We all know how difficult it's been getting around without a car in Pizzo, but now there's a new taxi service with Concetta.

TAXI
Call or text her, and she'll come and pick you up in her people carrier and drive you wherever you need to go. Very reasonable prices and service with a smile!
Piedigrotta €3 return
Marinella from €3 single / Pizzo Beach Club from €5 single
Lamezia Airport €35 (up to 4 people)

Contact La Dolce Vita di Pizzo to make initial booking:

I can recommend Concetta - one family with an apartment in Marinella didn't hire a car this time, but used Concetta to bring them in and out, and they were very happy with her service. She even came to get them from Vibo Marina at midnight when they got stranded there!

PIZZO BEACH CLUB SHUTTLE BUS
There's also a new shuttle bus service 3 times a day from Pizzo Beach Club, which you need to book in advance at reception (costs €8 return):

1. Pickup 9am, return 12noon
2. Pickup 3pm, return 6pm
3. Pickup 7pm, return 9.30pm

APE
You may have seen the new little Ape zipping around town for tourists - I'll look into prices for that. And of course in the summer the tourist train will be back!

BUS SERVICE
In July & August there's a bus from that goes all the way from Via Nazionale out to Marinella several times a day - more details on that later.

Transport in Pizzo is definitely looking up!

Any more transport horror stories???

I'm currently researching all the available options in Pizzo, and will soon be putting a new Transport page on the website to help people get around without a car.

Are there any buses that travel from Pizzo to Tropea or between local towns?
I am in Zambrone and I have never seen a bus in 12 visits and there do not appear to be any bus stops either.
I wondered if Italians just depend on trains ?
Is there a local bus service like our bus services?
Thanks
Pamela

My wife and I retuned from PBC last week and were told about the train which is a 1/2 hour walk. Excellent services right to Tropea. The departures and arrivels are posted at all the stations on the way. Very cheap fares, and you can travel at your pace. Also we found Tony the Taxi at the Pizzo station one day and we had him take us to the super market then back to PBC for 15 euro. I have his contact number at home and will post it next time

beynon, I used that train station when I was there in April to get the train to Tropea (1/2 hour). It's called Villafranca and is 3-4 km from PBC. Although there are no footpaths I think it would be feasible to walk it during daylight hours.

Or call Pino, who is based in Tropea, on 0039 338 5416631 mobile or 0039 0963 61371 home. He has a people carrier so can take up to 6 passengers.
