Hi David - sorry to hear about your theft, it's really unlucky and hope you did not get hurt defending your Barclays token!

Best wishes and hope to see you in the new year.

Dennis.

Hi Pamela

Firstly contact .... Roberta.benedetti@barclays.it and ask her to activate your 'key token' after you have heard back from her you will have to activate your 'key token' within your account. If you PM me your email address I will send you the instructions that David very kindly translated for us.

I'm at the airport in Singapore on way back to UK after 2 months of travelling in Asia and Australia. I'm hoping my key token will be waiting for me but probably not!

I am pleased (and surprised!) to report that my key token is activated and working fine after the long wait for its arrival.

Phil

I emailed Roberta Benedetti at mail.roberta.benedetti@barclays.it to ask her to activate my key token (as stated on this forum) and also for instructions as none came with the token. Her reply was:

We confirm you that the Token is now been activated

You have to get into your home banking with username and password. You will find the message "Attiva subito il token".
Click on "Attiva subito il token", enter the token number and you have to set a pin of 4 numbers or letters.
The next time you log in the system will ask you to enter the number that appears on the token and the 4 pin numbers or letters that you've set. Also for payments the system will ask you the pin and number of token.
If you have some problems you can call this number 0039.02.4037.8205

I did this successfully on Jan 11th, hope it works for you also.

Evie

Update regarding my stolen Key Token.
I received my replacement Token in 3 weeks enclosing instructions on how it should be activated.
I could not see the appropriate screen as it appears that my account had been blocked for security when I reported the loss of my Token..
Over the last 4 weeks I have contacted Customer Services on 3 occasions, each time they said they would telephone me back (which they haven't). I have emailed Maria Giulia Nicorelli but no response,
I suppose I could try Roberta Benedetti although my account is not in the Turati branch. I was trying to do this without delay by calling Customer Services and emailing but I will also now write to the address I have been given for my branch (Remota 193). I get no reply from the telephone and fax numbers I have been given by Customer Services for my branch.
I have been given the usual BB runaround!

Hi David

Giulia Nicorrelli is also based at Via Turati. I would try Roberta Benedetti she is always quick in answering her emails ..... Roberta.benedett@barclays.it

Good luck!

Success at last.
Roberta Benedetti forwarded the email I sent to her to Filialeremota.asti@barclays.it

Tonight when I checked the BB log in page, logged in and had a screen requesting to add the Token numbers, pressed the green tab, then a new screen asking for a new 4 digit PIN, confirmed PIN, typed the Key Token code in again, pressed the green tab and that was it, I had access to my account. These instructions to activate the Token were slightly different to the instructions that I was sent with the Token!

Not sure whether the email address above is the correct one for UK customers like myself who have a "Remote" branch (not a physical branch). The address I was given when I first became a BB customer was Filale Remota 193, Via Arconati 1, Milano.
I will email this address and find out whether this is correct and try and get their telephone number and fax number for possible problems in the future.

Nicorelli used to be very helpful and prompt at replying to emails but perhaps she's only involved at the earlier stages of opening an account. Roberta seems to provide the best assistance now. That's good you're sorted David

I received this post (see below) from BB in my Inbox dated 22/4/13.
Has any on-line customers been contacted by BB Customer Services?

English Translation using Google Translate

Updating Data Customers

Dear customer, in compliance with Legislative Decree 231/2007 (the Decree), on the prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism, our bank, in order to fulfill the "due diligence requirements of our customers," pursuant to art. 15:22 of the Decree, is required to update the data of its customers. We encourage you to contact your reference manager or go to your branch for more information. If you had a current account On Line will be contacted by our customer service.

David

I would continue to treat it with caution as in the UK the banks state that they will never send a customer an email unless it is in response to a direct enquiry you have made to them by email.

Barnpot, I have also received that note in my inbox, once I open my Barclays account. I have been receiving a lot of papers with charges, in the post, but am assuming that I will receive something from them via post. My account is in Milan and I send emails to Milano.buonarroti@barclays.it and I am presently getting a good response from them.

Please see below the reply I had from Roberta Benedetti at Barclays this morning.

to update your data a per Decree we need that you come into our Milan Branch
If you can't there will be the opportunity to do it by online banking from the month of June
Check on your online when you will login in that period
Kind regards

Hi beauyash,
I also received a sheaf of papers high-lighting various figures and a couple of full pages of text that I haven't had time to translate as yet. It maybe notification of interest earned on the balance in our credit accounts as the sums are quite small.
I also received in January papers outlining the charges for various services rendered by BB
I don't think I am being charged anything extra than I have been for the last 4 years namely the cost for my current account and postage fees, this is paid quarterly (competenze e interes), a small fee added to my monthly interest I pay on my mortgage. I assume that that any fees that I pay for my bimonthly DD's to Enel and Wical are included in my quarterly charge.

barnpot, Sorry, I should have been more specific and stated that the I was referring to the Inbox of my BB on-line account as beauyash mentioned.

Has anyone had trouble logging in to their online account recently? We're waiting for a payment going in so I've been logging on a couple of times a day for the last three days and the first two times I try it, it won't accept my user name and password - as soon as I hit 'enter' it goes back to empty boxes. It accepts them on the third attempt and I get through to the screen where you put in your key token and pin, and then I'm in. Has anyone else had this?

When I opened my Italian account today there was a questionnaire to fill in for Data protection. Did a google translate but it still did not make sense. Anyone seen this and managed to work out how to fill it in and what documents you need to send to your bank? I believe we have to do this or we won't be able to use our online account. Any help gratefully received.

I got the same thing this morning but when I clicked on the questionnaire nothing happened. I then tried to check my account balance and it said 'service not available'. I assumed it was a problem with the website and not that it was denying me access. I'll try it again later and let you know how I get on.

I've had nothing in my Inbox regarding a questionnaire for Laundering purposes.
I wonder if it's because I might have filled in similar forms when I requested my new OTP Token a few months ago.

Hi David

I too filled in a similar form. The Questionnaire wasn't in my inbox. Once I logged in there was a notice and underneath that there was 'Questionnaire' which you click on to bring up the form.

Just logged into my Barclays account and it took me straight into my account without having to go through the security of the Key Token and my PIN.
This lack of this level of security is not good. Hopefully this is short lived as I assume that there is a problem with the Key Token system.
Will have to give them a call to see what is going on !!

Just called Barclay Customer Services on 0039 02 4037 8205. To get an English speaker you now have to enter 5 (instead of 4).
Apparently as from the 9th August they have changed the system so that your Key Token and PIN is not needed to log in to your account. To quote what I was told "It's to make it easier to log in".
The Key Token and PIN is only required when you transfer funds etc.
I asked why I wasn't informed and was told that they don't have a telephone number or email address. This is unbelievable as these details have been given to them when I first obtained my account with them.
I now have to fax them my ID, Telephone number and email address!!
The usual story with Barclays, very poor communication with me as it's non-Italian customer.
Has anyone else realised or experienced this?
will have to check with my expat friend who lives in Ricadi to find out if it's the same with them.

Whoops !! Sorry Barclays, I should have checked my Barclays Home page more carefully.
There is a notice about this change of Logging in to Home Banking on their Home Page.
My excuse is that my Italian is still very poor.
.
The Notice translated says "Innovative thinking why your life will be more accessable".
then there is a link for "more info" which when translaled is :-

"operation
new Features

Hi Lorics & Barneyjoe,
It easier to access your account now and you only need to use the key token when transferring funds. The 4 digit PIN we were asked to create when we received our tokens is now redundant.
I suppose that they believe that the key token is sufficient security as is the 2 stage security (codice utents & password) to log into your Home Banking account.
The extra security for some characters from your original PIN to access Home Banking is also no longer needed.

I don't think so as the change to Log in was before I sent my details to them by fax on advice if their customer services when I queried the change.

Hello Tony and Adam,

I got an email from Roberta Benedetti in June saying that she is no longer in charge of the Turati branch, and to send all further emails to Milano.repubblica@barclays.it. As a matter of course, I always copied any emails in to Milano.turati@barclays.it - don't know if that made the difference or not, but I always seemed to get a reply within a few days.

Good luck

I was just found out that Barclays have promoted some changes to their current on-line accounts.
I have been trying for some time to cancel paper statements and save 0.77 cents / letter.
It seems that they have now done it. Go into the their Bank Store when on-line and follow the links.

They have also requested you choose 5 security questions from a list of 10 questions in case ones account gets Logged out!! This facility will appear when you log in to your account.
You have to go through this process before being able to log in and see your account and change to on-line statements.
You will require to use your Key Token to confirm these actions.
This is the translation of their message that was in my Message Inbox :-

"Have you already discovered the new Bank Store?

Bank Store is the new section of your Internet Banking which allows you to customize your report with the Bank choosing new products and services without having to enter the branch !

From today are available for the first three services :

- "Set your Alert" : If you have subscribed to the service branch in Alert , choose which messages you want to receive notification via SMS or e -mail, promptly check the operation of your accounts and services.

- "Set your documents online " if you want to save money and respect the environment , choose the method of receiving the account statement online : you can see when and where you want in a timely manner , avoiding paper waste and without shipping costs .

- " Set up your Mobile" : if you want to have access to the main banking and financial position as well as to your mobile phone and tablet, enter the section Bank Store to download your mobile app

These are just the first three services that we have available .

Visit the Bank periodically Store to see what's new !

Back to list"

I received a letter (written in English) last month from Barclays regarding "Anti-money laundering regulatory requirements (Italian Legislative Decree 231/2007) - Request for Information."
They request you "contact your Financial advisor, any Barclays bank branch in Italy or contact their Customer Services +39 02 4037 8205 (no. 5 for English speaker) or mobile -39 02 541 199."
I contacted their Customer Services today and was transferred to another person who thankfully also spoke English.
He wanted to confirm our Codice fiscale, DOB, birth place and current address. It was painless but they have had all this information on many occasions in the past!!
