Our pool has problems, possibly structural, which may require expenditure. We spoke to our administrator and asked if this might be covered by the 10 year guarantee. We were told if we pursued this route then we would need a lawyer and it would take a long time. Has anyone any experience with this situation? In the UK you obviously would not need a lawyer, you would go to the NHBC. Thanks in advance.

Under normal circumstances the pool the belongs to a development has a warranty, typically 2 years on machinery, lining and accessories and (I would imagine, but I am not sure) 10 years on the structure - just like the properties.

The developer should have a warranty from the contractor that built the pool.

It should not take a lot of effort from a lawyer to make a few enquiries and write a formal letter, I would expect the administrator to sort it for you, otherwise change administrator.

Hope this helps,

Dennis.

Thanks Dennis. Pool contractor and builder both being difficult to reason with. Do you know if there is a body similar NHBC whom you can contact in the first instance? David
