I thought it might be interesting to see who's travelling when. Two reasons; it might be a chance to put a face to the names here and, secondly, it would be interesting to see the pattern of travel and to have an idea of what proportion of flights were participants here.

Is it worth starting a retrospective topic as well, recording how full the flights were?

To get it started, we're on Ryanair on 17th from STN to SUF and back on 27th.

Unless Yorkylad means the Alitalia flight but this stops 2 times France and Milan and costs a lot. If you don't mind a stopover BA is cheaper.

I'm sorry. It was a dream. I've woken up to find half the people on the forum have been feverishly looking for the flight from Doncaster and now I can see my little joke has backfired. No doubt this will cost me drinks etc by way of an apology when I see you. I'm actually out on the 29th of April and back on the 4th of May from good old Stansted. Sorry sorry sorry

Good question.
I have often wondered if the English speaking person at check in etc was a forum member. It would be so good to put faces to names.
Perhaps a new topic on best way to do this would be fun. I cannot think beyond In Calabria badges using Dennis's logo no second thoughts I am useless at art and design.
I've not put my travel times on this topic yet as I don't go out until July boo hoo and thought it too early to post just yet.

Hi Pooch
Don't know whether my private message went through to you. Return flight is with Ryanair. The Paris -Lamezia flight starts on 6th May. Great for getting back to Scotland. Leave Lamezia at 3p.m. and be home by midnight.

Hi Margaret,

Didn't get a pm from you. I can get Lamezia to Paris Beavais ok but can't get from there to Glasgow, only to Prestwick.

If you are flying to Glasgow can you give me details please.

Don't know if this helps as it is for 27th July
Leave Lamezia Ryanair 15.40 Stansted 17.40
Leave Stansted Easyjet 20.55 Glasgow 22.10

There are earlier flights to Glasgow but I booked this one to give plenty of times in case of delays. No early rise, no overnight anywhere and home at a decent time.

Hi Pooch
Yes it's Prestwick which is only about 40 minutes from us and we have a couple of friends who live in nearby Troon so we are able to park our car there.

How tight are Ryanair being at Lamezia about size of carry-on bags etc?

I estimated the STN -SUF flight on the 17th as being 90/95% full, how are the others doing?

Size isn't everything!

In Bergamo they were less concerned with dimensions concentrating on the 10kg limits...

We flew Ryanair from Lamezia to Bergamo last month and they were checking hand luggage size and making sure that passengers only had one piece of hand luggage - making people put any extra bags into one. At Bergamo at the entrance to security all hand luggage had to be put into a frame that weighed them to make sure they were under 10kg.

Last night on Lamezia to Stansted they weren't doing anything AFAICS. Numbers of people with more than one bag and bags much larger than the specified size were being allowed through.

I think coming back that its one rule for italians and another for us brits, we stick to the rules, italians break them, they get away with it we don't. Coming back from Milan our flight was delayed on take off because the italians refused to stow their coats under the seats,or put them on their knee, they insisted that they be put in the overhead locker when there clearly was no room. The arguments between themselves over the space got heated, was funny to start of with but it got annoying, their cases seem to be bigger than ours what i saw was a very large bag that wouldn't of fitted in the bag size but he was allowed to carry it on board, it should be one rule for all not biased.

cheers diane

Stansted -Lamezia on 25th very strict on size and weight, Italians infront of us removed clothing item from one bag which wouldnt fit into sizing cage into another and they made him go and try that one for size before letting them through. Flight I recon was about 98% full.
Lamezia to Stansted on 29th April around 90% full of people but 110% full of cabin luggage!! they were checking sizes of hand luggage on baggage check in but no checks at all on hand luggage at boarding point - lady in front of us had large case handbag but wasn't stopped. (Dont know if flight was going to be late on take off made any difference, they were ruching everyone through. There was around 9 blocked seats at the front which seemed to be reserved for excess hand luggage.
Seems to be No consistency at all !
