The below link takes you to a Facebook campaign which has over 5000 members, perhaps the 1000 or so forum members could join this Facebook campaign to get Lamezia to become a Ryanair base, giving a stronger chance for the return of the UK to Lamezia flight:

Article:

Lamezia Terme, June 25, 2010 - Ryanair is the largest low-cost airline in Europe with 65 million passengers in 2009. This group was created to encourage the creation of the much-desired basis Ryanair to 'International Airport of Lamezia Terme (SUF). So begins the description of the group created by David Macri that for some weeks now participates in talk shows and campaigning for a public utility service that affects all citizens of Lamrzia Spa and beyond. Ryanair have a base (ie the permanent placement of certain aircraft in night-stop with its crew) to Lamezia would have a wide range of Italian and European destinations reachable from Lamezia to low-cost fares. Today Lamezia may benefit only certain links operated by other bases such as Ryanair Bergamo, Pisa, Bologna and Dusseldorf-Weeze. The direct to London Stansted Airport has been canceled by the company following the decrease in operating basic English Stansted which involved, besides the flight to the airport Lametini, including several European destinations. According to Macri who today spoke on one city in the transmission of Anthony Cannon, a Ryanair base in Lamezia reduce greatly the number of people who are forced to move by means flights with stopovers and little competitive rates. A Ryanair base would also benefit those who do not like to fly on low-cost, forcing traditional airlines to operate a price cut on routes now operating as a monopoly. A Ryanair base would be beneficial to those who can not fly, generating a large number of passengers in Lamezia resulting economic benefits and employment in the sector related to the aviation world and especially the tourist, not forgetting the importance that might have on traffic incoming to the present in Lamezia Terme and throughout the region. A base Ryanair would benefit all Calabria and Lamezia Terme, ensuring high visibility at the continental level. For the moment, Macri thank David for his commitment and dedication to the cause and we await the decisions of Ryanair.
