I booked STN-SUF return on the 16/8/11 for £75.98.
Checked tonight same fliights and dates now £225.34 that's a 300% increase !
I was aware that Ryanair put the prices up near the date of the flights but did not think that they increased by this amount.
Does anyone know whether they come down in price again much nearer the flight date? My daughter wishes to come out with me but not at that price.

if Ryanair prohibitive for late booking , try monarch/avro who tend to DROP prices nearer departure date and fly Gatwick Lamezia :)

Ericardlussa,
Thanks for advice re Avro which I was awarte of but my daughter wanted to come out and return on the same flights as myself on Ryanair. I have done some more checking with the Ryanair website and it appears that on the 26/9 it the cost is a very high for the SUF - STN ticket for some reason. As of tonight the return ticket has now gone up to £255.34 and the SUF - STN sector cost of £186.28 !

Ryanair from Stansted / Paris Beauvais / lamezia worth a look also? Have seen some fantastic fares on Paris / Lamezia throughout the year so far.

Just read the following link in the FT about changes to Ryanair's credit/debit card charges. Looks like it isn't worth getting their card, which is now the only way to not pay charges.

Yes I posted about this earlier and have given times of Wed and Sun flights.
Prices are very reasonable and I have been trying to work out if it's worthwhile flying to Naples and getting train to Calabria.
Flying to Crotone airport from Naples which would be ideal for us does not seem to be an option.

ps Has anyone taken train from Naples to East Coast Calabria? Your comments eould be much appreciated.

When you go to book the train - look out for "mini" fares - you may need to look at a few different train times - but you could get a really great deal - I got fares of €13 for the trip from Naples to Pizzo in July this year - good or what!!!

We booked for July/August 2011 in early January 2011. It still seems awfully late when Easyjet have alreday released their summer 2012 flights.

Hi All,
If anyone is interested to go to Calabria in November, you can go for £12.00 return, no taxes etc on certain dates.

Hi barneyjoe, I think it would be enough so long as you didn't have any luggage, the flight was on time and you weren't travelling with small children, but if you had any delays at all, or you were flying in at a time when the security was likely to be busy, then I think you might struggle. Too much of a risk for us, but I'm sure some people would be willing to chance it.

I think it would be risky if you had baggage to collect and check-in again. Hand luggage and pre-printed boarding pass would be better option.

Well i have booked it 1-15th July £1350 5 people from Belfast.
The problem is we are limited with times of connecting flights.
We will just have hand luggage so fingers crossed.

The flight times must have changed since last summer 'cos both the easyjet and bmi flights from belfast to stansted left lots of time for checking in etc before the flight to lamezia. I presume this is your 1st family holiday in your apartment so that'll be exciting!!

Does anyone know how to apply for the Ryanair prepaid card to reduce the costs when booking tickets to Lamezia?

It's easy - just apply on-line on the Ryanair website for a Ryanair Cash Passport. We did it and the new card arrived within 4 days. You have to load a minimum of £150 onto the card for it to be activated. It's a nuisance - this is the 3rd card that we've had to apply for since Ryanair started charging for using debit/credit cards to book flights - we've had a Halifax Electron card, then a FairFx card before having to change again. Well worth it though to avoid charges and we book flights for family and grateful friends too,

Marion

Hi, have been looking at Ryanair's website small print.. just make sure you use the card every 6 months, or they will start charging £2.50 per month, and then £10 if there are insufficient funds on the card. This should be easy enough to do though, as if not regularly booking flights it can be used at UK shops for a fee of 50p per transaction.

We have usually found Ryan Air to be unbeatable on price even adding on all the Extras- But check out Alitalia who's prices ( including baggage etc.) have beaten Ryan Air big style for our June trip! Just watch out for the length of overall trip though. Some are fine but
Some are very long!
