Does anyone know the process one has to make to change the legal status of ownership from a joint one to a single owner after a bereavement?
An addedum to a UK Will to ensure that UK law takes precedence over Italian law has been done.
Joint bank accounts also have to be changed. How easy is that going to be?

Does this mean you have suffered a bereavement? I am sorry if this is the case. Good luck with the Bank.... I would go in with the death certificate, passports of both parties, and be prepared for a long interview. If it is a UK death certificate I would think about getting it notarised. Do yu have to change the title deeds?

David, I shall see what I can find out. It's important information which we all should be aware of.

I have telephoned CheBanca about changing a Joint account and transfer of a mortgage to a surviving spouse.
It appears that you have to get the property ownership completed initially. When you then completed this you contact the bank about the accounts. They close the account and then re-open a new one or the original one in the new name.
This is not what I really want as I have my DD's which I want to keep paying and funds in it that I wish to use using ATM's for my holiday money when there. It may only take a short time to do this and may be done when I am in UK.
