Hi all,

we are working on putting back the links page that got lost some time ago in migration of the website.

I would really appreciate your help and feedback in compiling a comprehensive list based on the experience of so many people on the forum.

Please add below who you think we should link to as a useful service, even if you have already mentioned it elsewhere on the forum.

Here is the page so far: http://www.incalabria.com/links.php

Thank you in advance!

Dennis.

INSURERS
---------
The other 'English speaking insurers' http://www.italsure.eu/index.php?pg=home
(I was able to set up my property cover by phone standing in a supermarket - for immediate cover, paperwork to my home address)

CURRENCY
----------
Currency (pre-load Debit Cards and bulk transfers ~ related to Newcastle Building Society; shortly to configure a DIY on-line bulk transfer. I have found them to be very, very good.)
http://www.fairfx.com

HOTEL
--------
Hotel Piccolo Mondo,
Contrada Bergamotto 2 | S.S. 18 Intavolata, 87020 Acquappesa, Italy
(On the SS18 halfway between Scalea and Amantea - good, basic value. Clean and helpful. Main receptionist German - excellent linguist.)

FURNITURE
----------
http://www.emmezeta.org/
(with an English speaking director, and van loan/hire - just off the autostrada at Montalto Uffugo - easy to find)

http://www.turcolarredamento.it/
(Vincenzo speaks excellent English - good quality goods, and not overcharged at all. Eg 4k euros for a fully fitted kitchen for better than a £4k DIY kitchen from B&Q. We bought beds, wardrobes etc. Centre of Amanatea.) ~ our preference. We are happy to leave keys with him!

(This is what used to be Per Sempre on the Catanzaro road from Lamezia)

WHITE GOODS - Phones/Broadband
==========================
http://local.libero.it/amantea/aziende/ ... i-amantea/
(Turco Expert, Amantea. White goods, TV/Hi-Fi, Mobile Broadband - and Endrio will phone and register/enable it for you!!) Opposite Turco Furniture in Amantea. We bought washing machine, water boiler, broadband dongle, patio furniture.

What lawyer have you used, and would you recommend him/her?
What currency exchange firm have you used?
Translators, management companies, any comments at all?

I know it is nice weather in the UK, let us know when you get back!

Denis

I've been a regular reader of this forum for a couple of years now, although perhaps not posted a great deal, however, on this occasion, I'd like to put my 'two penneth in', with regards to your links suggestions.

We completed last summer on the East Coast and are delighted with our purchase, during the process we came across www.calabria4u.com. Who were of significant help in negotiating discounts/getting a better deal, sourcing other suppliers both locally and further afield, keeping us up to date with developments regularly, dealing with the builder/solicitor/local tradesmen 'On The Ground' in our absence.

I think they'd be an excellent link for anyone Purchasing/Furnishing/Installing Utilities/Renting, in fact most things for people on EITHER coast.

We've certainly found them honest, trustworthy and very good value for money, with what they have saved us!

A sort of mutilingual 'One Stop Shop' that does exactly what it says on the tin, to coin a phrase?

Hope this is of use to you in your compilation of your suggested links page.

Kind Regards

S

The Forum has been going for at least 9 years. Not sure what has happened to the 'links page' but I tend to go to the Board Index and search there for topics I wish to review.
