Hi Admin,
What has happened to the list of "Active Topics" that I was viewing this morning? This list of topics was so useful to see the current postings and to keep up with what is going on.

Still trying to work out how the changes work. Also missing the Active Topics list as this doesn't seem to be working any more. Makes it difficult to find posts which I wanted to reply to but didn't at the time as the only way to find now, appears to be going onto the Forum pages and looking through the different posts.

Is anyone having problems sending PMs? Mine just sit in my outbox. I have some important ones waiting to go which I'd prefer to use PM rather than the open forum.

Posts tend to stay in the out box until they are read by the recipient. Others have put their normal email address, on the forum, for 24 hours.

Hi Evie and David,
If you log onto the forum through Mozilla Firefox (which is another type of browser) then you have a far better selection of options available to you i.e. View active topics, view unread posts, view new posts, view your posts etc;
Plus it also remembers your password and login details, so you dont have to enter it each time.
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,
I have used both Firefox and Explorer in the past and have had no problems.
It was fine yesterday morning when I logged on but in the evening there were only 2 items in "Active Topics". It appears that all the postings have either been deleted or sent to their various Topics making it difficult to see any current postings.
Any comments to make Admin?

Just noticed that after submitting replies the text appears to be centered despite it being aligned on the left as normal. Something has changed !!

Admin,

Please amend the alignment of the text so as we can read the messages as they used be...it is not good to see them as they are now.

The "active topics" function is not working like it used to. Many people click on this to see what is going on.

Now it is not working the activity has dropped off like a stone.

I do not want this forum to die out so Dennis please sort this out. (I believe the threashold level on "active topics" has been set too high. A single post should be the level which determines of the topic is "active" (It has probably been set as 2 or 3 postings so not many topics make the threashold).

Activity has definetely dropped off. It is not good.

Further comment on changes to the forum - when you view the forum as a vistor you only get 2 choices- View unanswered posts ,and View active topics

When you log-on as a member you get 5 choices- View unanswered posts, View active topics, VIEW UNREAD POSTS , VIEW NEW POSTS , and VIEW YOUR POSTS

I would have thought that new visitors ( who are potential forum members ) should be able to read View unread posts, and View new posts as a priority

A visitor could miss out on postings ( as I did when I viewed as a visitor and saw no new postings) -they would not be EASILY available to them as they do not have the choice of view unread posts or view new posts .
I think the option 'View new posts' should be available to them

I hope I've been constructive - all I want is the forum to be easy to navigate for new vistors so they come back again and we all gain by sharing information

I do miss the old Active Topic which showed all the latest posts, except the members only ones. It is quite hard to look for the previous posts, even for members.

Totally agree with the above - I am also posting so this can end up an "active topic" and can be fixed before the forum dies off.

A good hour has elapsed since I posted my previous comment on this section (Forum feedback- Re: Active topics) and have just logged in again as a member and clicked on "view new posts" with the result "zero new postings" !
(Does the posting have to be checked by the moderator before the posting becomes a new posting? - in which case -apologies)

Also what the definition of "view unread posts" - maybe a different title would be more appropriate

Just looked again and my 2nd posting has just arrived in the "view new posts" but my 1st today failed to appear .

"View unread posts" which I think means "view postings YOU have not read" is not working properly as I can find postings by going to the main Forum headings and looking at new postings this way - these postings do not appear in the "view unread posts"

Hi all,

thanks for pointing this out. The webmaster has upgraded the PHPBB software on the server and some setting ended up different from what they where: most topics were excluded from being reported as being active. I have now gone through each of the forums to correct the settings and all appears to be well.

Thanks again, and please let me know if you notice other oddities. We can't really change the nature of the beast but we can tweak settings here and there in the administration panel.

Dennis.
