Hi all.
Does anyone from N.Ireland have any tips on local Notaries for POA.
Is it easier/ cheaper to take a flight to Edinburgh and get it done at the consulate?

I used Michael Flanigan, Falls Rd, Belfast. £40 1st document (£20 2nd) plus £34 apostille's fee and £25 admin fee to send to apostille in London = £99.

We have been advised by a Notary in the UK that we do not need a photo.

Has anybody experience of using a POA without a photo?

I arranged a POA (Power of Attorney) some years ago and did not have to produce a photograph.
You don't have to go through a Lawyer to organise a POA. You used to be able to get POA Packs from WH Smiths which gave you all the information and model forms to set one up.
Had second thoughts on this, if you are dealing with Italian lawyers with a POA you'd better do it through a lawyer.
