Good morning all,

over the past weeks we've been working on bringing the site design firmly into 2015, and I hope you agree it all looks more modern.

You can see the preview over here: https://selectiveitaly.com/forum/

Besides the cosmetics, the site has been rebuilt using a different technology foundation that should make self publishing of property for sale and for rent finally a possibility. As the site is SSL encrypted it should be safer and so in time we'll charge for listing property. Until then, please take advantage of the option to list your property for sale or for rent by opening an account and let me know how you fare:

https://selectiveitaly.com/portal-dashboard-2/

All the best,

Dennis.

Hi Dennis,
I have looked at the redesigned Forum layout.
Not sure if it's the black and grey text and the expanded layout of the redesigned Forum but the existing Forum seems to be easier to read!
I'll be sorry to see the demise of the Incalabria logo.
Didn't see a "For Rent" heading in the new layout.

Morning Dennis

The updated site looks very swish, I like it, sorry to lose the Incalabria but modern times being all inclusive is an invitation to all

Well done and congratulations
Sue

Thank you both for your comments.

I'll have a think to see if we can have an InCalabria forum on a Selective Italy website.

I'll add "Rentals" to the menu when we have a few.

Dear Forum users,

here it is, the first substantial forum redesign since it's inception in 2007 .... I admit there is some getting used to a new theme, but there is very good news as well - in the user control panel you can choose your own theme.

Choose "Subsilver2" and you're right back to 2007 ;-).

I look forward to your comments and suggestions for improvements.

All the best,

Dennis.

You're right, me neither. I'll look into it. Thank you.

Dennis.

How does this hybrid solution work for you?

Back to normal, just changed the header. Could not get used to the layout myself after so many years!

This probably works best for all!

That's better, it's definitely a better layout and easier to view with the colours. albeit only a little of blue, green, red and orange. I will miss the Incalabria logo but you are now trading as "Selective Italy".

Why would you want to log out?

Just kidding, I think I must have dropped a line of code somewhere ....

Could anybody comment on how well the website and the forum perform (or not), in terms of speed.

Forum layout is good and the speed is excellent despite my broadband being hard wired and not a fibre optic cable.
There is delay when "submitting" or when "editing" a reply!

Hi all,

thank you for your comments. David, you're right it's slow in submission. That's because the website is heavily cached, but new comments are obviously not. We had to find this solution because for some inexplicable reason the website is under attack from a botnet or something like that since February, see attached screenshots. Stuff like this happens on the internet, it will pass, but it's an insane amount of traffic for a little company to cope with - hence some things just have to slow down - like forum submissions.

Have a nice weekend,

Dennis.

Dennis,
Thanks for the feedback. Despite the small problem it's an excellent Forum for those who have and hope to have a property in Calabria.
