Can anyone recommend a nice hotel near airport and Catania with parking? We will be flying in to Catania in April and wish to stay overnight in Sicily before driving up to Pizzo at our leisure the next day.
Any ideas on places to visit on way up would also be appreciated.

Barney

Catania is very nice, but it is certainly worth driving the half hour or so to Taormina or Giardini Naxos. In the centre of Taormina there is Residence Circe which has clean spacious and affordable rooms and some apartments. Parking is reasonably priced in the southern underground parking, which is nearby at the end of the corso.

Make sure you also visit the Cascate dell'Alcantara when in the area.

Hope this helps,

Dennis.

Stayed in the Hotel Novecento in the old centre of Catania a few years ago. Around the corner from a lively pedestrian area with plenty of restaurants etc. Young crowd . Friendly. Hotel staff very helpful and rates reasonable. Parking on street but perhaps they have secure parking. Take note that Catania city centre is not really touristy. Suited me.
Dennis has probably a better solution in Taormina area. I have stayed in Hotel Villa Mora in Giardini Naxos many times. Can highly recommend. On street parking but maybe secure by prior arrangement. Facing beach in centre of town. Reasonable. About 30 minutes from there to the ferry.
You can check both of these out on trip adviser.

Thanks Dennis and Grumpy I will have a look at these when I get a chance. Looking on trip advisor would do your head in as for every great review there is generally a bad one.
