Mish

It was June 2009 when I was there last and there was no sign of any works.
I was told that the builder needed to pay about 750,000 euro to get the drains and services up to th esite, and as such was not going to be starting any time soon.
Did you get your deposit back?

Hello tyke2,
No I didnt. I found out that my lawyer was also working for Sandloka so he wasnt really very helpful in that respect. We went on to buy a villa in Lanzarote which we love so all ended well. I would have liked some money back but you live and learn!
Its such a shame, I would have liked to see them built, it was such a lovely plot.

Oh that is such a shame as I thought Stromboli Views was lovely but outside our price bracket.

tyke 2 did you buy elsewhere? I remember all your helpful posts from almost 3 years ago.
We eventually bought a plot of land to have our own house built on it and the build goes on as and when we can send some money.

Hi Mags

I did not buy elsewhere. The recession made me very cautious.
Where are you building?
Is it very stressfull . I built my own house in England and that was stressfull enough!.

Hi tyke
We bought a plot of land in Botricello which is on the East Coast. It's a town with all that we need, restuarants, bakers, several supermarkets, petrol station, butchers, pizza places, greengrocers, those lovely bars that sell delicious mini pastries , banks and chemists.
We are a 2 minute walk to the sea on the other side of the railway and have what we wanted in Calabria. Biz on the main road and absolute peace where we are. English is not spoken so we are learning more Italian each time we go over.
We are surrounded by farmers and cannot thank them enough for their generous gifts from the land when we are there. I have never tasted basil that is so delicious!
The build is going well and will be finished whenever we send out more money.
Everything is going at our speed and we will have a detached house with a swimming pool.
This forum that advised me on an independent lawyer is the reason that I have what I have.
I'm so sorry that your home in Calabria did not come true but if you are still thinking about it , don't give up.
mags
ps It so much less stressful having a home built in Calabria than here if you have a good Geometra/ project manager as we are not there to sort out any problems that may arise and we just see the photos and go over and walk around the build.
I realise that we have been so lucky in our choice and never want to appear as being smug.

Mags

It sounds like a dream. I hope it works out to be great. The location sounds just like what we were looking for. Maybe one day.

Best wishes Tyke

Hi

I was in San Nicolo last week. The Stromboli views site seems to now have been seperated up into individual building plots which are for sale.
Kerbs have been laid for roads into the site etc.

An agency calle "live in Calabria" are selling the plots. I dont know if its viable to build here or if its a con!

Anyone know anything else?

Tyke

Nothing to do with us, however!

We are in contact with one of the partners and will possibly follow up when all issues have been resolved.

Dennis.
