We have a slingbox and it works fine in Caulonia area with a dongle.
We use it through the telly by connecting it to the laptop, when enlarged you loose a bit of definition but very watchable.
Best device in my opinion, I have used mine all over the world.

Hi Brian, the sling box needs broadband at home in the UK and in Italy for it work well. My recommendation is to get broadband in Italy and take a VPN subscription so Bbc iPlayer and 4OD work well.

We've been using that for many years now.

Best regards,

Dennis.

which dongle, it really depends on the offers on the day. my husband trawls the high street of Soverato to see the best deal, me, I head for that really nice sticky bun/ice cream shop at the far end. dont forget to take passport and fiscal no when you go.

It you go for a mobile Internet dongle, check the datacap, as tv uses a lot of data. Generally Adsl will be more reliable and it is unlimited too, but requires all year round subscription.

We have a few Slingboxes but they're either Classics or Solos. As the viewer can be set to various quality standards, I imagine that that reduces the bandwidth of the upstreaming signal so that should work with the HD model too.

That's a very interesting package you got there Brian. I checked out the Wind Unlimited and I found the speed gets limited after 10 Gigabytes to only 32kbps which is ok only for email.

Still, 10GB should be good for about 20 hours of TV (at 1Mb/sec = 480MB/hour), which may be enough in a month.

I'm using a 3 dongle which gives me 100 hours a month for 15 Euros regardless of traffic. If I go over that then I can add weeks on.
