For information only , the pool and gym at Isca is very professionally run now and the service and facilities would be hard to beat in the UK.
Having been going for two weeks now would thorougly recommend it.
Apart from which is good for body and mind!!

No Ionian.
It's the ATHLON public gym & pool at Isca Marina near, but not at, San Rocco 2.
It also has an excellent cafe with internet access.
Beware though, the main pool is designed for swimming, not chatting and it's 2 metres deep at the shallow end.

Ionian,
It shut at the end of June for the refurb and re-opened in September...
As far as we know the ATHLON closes for 3 hours for lunch every day and does not open on Sundays at all but these closing times are subject to verification.

But Ionian, while ATHLON relaxes at lunch, you have to jog to Badolato superiore and back...

Hi Ionian

Pool is 1.8m at shallow end and 4m at deep end. It is only closed on sundays
and is open all day everyday apart from that so they told me today!

Bar and internet facilities are open from 7.30 am in morning till closing.

So jogging back should be easier!!!

take care

Thanks Mario but unless the filling stations re-open in Calabria we'll all be jogging everywhere.

Are the petrol stations on strike?

Wash your mouth out, jogging. I can do a fast walk which is actually as good but not so hard on knees. If bar is open from 7.30 I may be on my knees anyway!!!

Ionian,
The TIR drivers have blockaded the motorways for the last few days, resulting in no petrol at filling stations and emptying supermarket shelves. (Varies area to area but we've never known the SS106 so quiet).
Now the blockade appears to have lifted and fuel deliveries resumed, the filling stations seem to be striking.
The delights of Calabria are a wonder to behold.

Oh dear. I would not want to drive a tanker over the mountains. Snow on the tops now?
Hope it gets back to normal soon.

Yeah Ionian,
As soon as the petrol flows, it'll be back to Wacky Races Calabrian-style...

Further to previous posts have just been told that the GYM and pool will do weekly membership for 20 euros per person to include all facilities. Pool, gym and classes etc. Also if more than one week will do a deal probably around 35 euros for two weeks. If more than 3 people will also do a better deal if you ask.

Remember you can also have free internet and printing service in cafe.

Hope it will appeal to the fit amongst us !!
