Bizarre question:

I've been advised to pack my weighing scales (the ones you stand on and they scream GET OFF back at you :P ) in the hold luggage. As they are digital and presumably must have wires as well as a battery, do you think it will make the airport scanners think it is explosive making equipment instead?

I would think they are smart enough to recognise them! Leave the battery out maybe...

Think about it; how many of us pack phone chargers, laptops, electronic alarm clocks, DVD players....... They must be used to recognising them on the X-rays.

can i ask why are you taking your scales? wouldn't it be better if you bought some in Italy? or are you taking them to weigh luggage if so you can buy minature scales that you can weigh your luggage on. normally found in markets or daily paper offers. try the markets though cheaper and work loll

Cheers Diane:)

No, not to weigh luggage.

I just figured not many people would pack body weighing scales and it would alarm the security at the airport. Guess I just pack the battery elsewhere in my luggage.

Thanks folks.

You don't have very polite scales do you? Mine say "thank you" (or was it "thank goodness"). :D
