I am looking at car hire at Lamezia airport for June and a new name is appearing and very cheap. Has anyone had any dealings with them and are they OK?

Thanks. Will book them as they are offering an Economy car for 8 days at £145, whilst phoned Avis and quoted £332. A no brainer really.

The excess is not a problem as we have a yearly one through insurance4carhire. I think it is approx £36 or £70+ for two. We have even made a claim and it was dealt with promptly. Found out about it through this forum.

Hi Elise
I have used them. They tend to have higher mileage cars than the others but the cars are ok. The last car I had had so many marks there was no way they could accuse me of any damage. I saw that as a bonus!
I have rebooked with them for this year. They share the Hertz counter in the car hire building at Lamezia.
I got the impression that the cars they use are the ones Hertz have finished with but this is only my suspicion.
Hope this helps
Allen

I booked my car hire car for September hire in December through AutoEurope.
I checked with them today (0800 free phone number through their American customer services) to confirm that I would be allocated a 4 door vehicle which I had reserved on their website.
It appears that they could not guarantee this and advised me that by using Firefly they could do so at extra cost !!
The CS person did confirm that Firefly is part of Hertz and as Allen c has said probably their older vehicles hence the lower cost.
Interestingly she did say to check their website throughout the year as the prices do vary and I may find a cheaper deal !!

Firefly are a low budget car hire and as stated in another comment are not the most good looking of cars. I arrived at the Hertz counter and collected my keys to then find that the key ring said the car was green when in fact it was black. It had 2 hub caps missing, dents and scratched all over it. I went back in got them to mark the paperwork of all including the hub caps as they were not going to be open when I dropped the car off on my return and did not want to be charged. All was OK. Cheap rental but not the best cars. I would not hire then again.
